Paddys Day - Was Up?
It’s our nation’s biggest festival. On March 17th we dust off our green jumpers and do what we do best, partaaay! Millions of people all over the world become honorary Irish citizens for the day and it’s normal to see leprechauns strolling down the road.
So, how are the countries party animals celebrating this year? Up and down the country, festival fever is coming on. Here is a taster of the many exciting events ‘ar súil’ for Paddy’s day! the gear!
Tribal gatherings in Galway:
An exciting parade is planned for Galway this year, as the city goes back to its roots with the theme of ‘Tribes’. Groups participating in the parade have interpreted the theme in many different ways, so it’s sure to be a colourful afternoon!
ROCKin’ it in Cashel:
If you plan on being in Munster for Paddy’s weekend, why not check out the Skyfest. The show involving pyrotechnics, lighting and music kicks off on the 15th at 6.30pm on the fantastic Rock of Cashel. It’s a long way to Tipperary, but it’ll be worth it!
A craicin’ ceili:
Put on your dancing shoes and get back to real Irish tradition with the ‘ceili mor’ which will be held on Patrick’s Day in Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2. Set to be an old fashioned good time!

The rebels know how to have fun:
Down in Cork, plans are going ahead for a larger than life St. Patrick’s Day festival. With the parade on the 17th, as well as a ceili mór (just in case you can’t make it to Dublin) and a Barry’s Tea Food Market (to fill you up for the dancing!) to name but a few! The hotties!
So pick up your leprechaun hat, practice your gaeilge and no matter what you do for St. Patrick’s Day, remember to be safe and to be proud to be Irish! The Bois!
